800 Members Milestone & Sporting Clubs Grant – Pickleball Manningham

Pickleball Manningham celebrated two significant milestones today, surpassing 800 members while welcoming Sonja Terpstra MP to congratulate the club on receiving a Sporting Clubs Grant.

Operating since November 2022, the club has experienced remarkable growth, increasing from 500 members at the end of June 2025 to more than 800 members today. The club now delivers around 68 volunteer-run sessions every week across six locations throughout Melbourne’s east and north-east.

The Sporting Clubs Grant has enabled Pickleball Manningham to expand coach education and provide first aid training for volunteers, helping ensure members enjoy safe, welcoming and professionally run sessions. As a direct result, the club delivered 23 skills and drills sessions during July across four venues. Experienced volunteer coaches generously gave their time to help members improve their skills, build confidence and enjoy the game even more.

Club President Jim Thomson said the achievements reflected the dedication of the club’s volunteers. “Passing 800 members is a wonderful milestone, but it’s our volunteers who make it all happen. From organising sessions and welcoming new players to coaching, setting up courts and providing first aid support, they create the friendly community that keeps people coming back.”

Pickleball is one of Australia’s fastest-growing sports because it’s easy to learn, great fun and suitable for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Whether you’re looking to become more active, meet new people or enjoy some friendly competition, everyone is welcome.

Visit the Pickleball Manningham website or book a session through the OpenSports app. All equipment and an introduction to the game is provided. Sessions are available at Doncaster East, Donvale, Eltham, Forest Hill, Greensborough and Templestowe.
