Aquarena hosted its first Pride Swim and Gym Night on Sunday 11 February 2024, a festive and inclusive event for the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. The event offered a range of fitness and entertainment options for everyone to enjoy.
The patrons could try out different fitness sessions, such as aquacise, aerobics, cycle, and Zumba, with energetic and friendly instructors. The aqua aerobics class was especially popular, as people of all ages and backgrounds joined in the fun, even if they were not registered for the event. The DJ played upbeat tunes, while Holly Pop, a drag queen performer, handed out rainbow stickers to the delighted kids. The family picnic area was a great place to relax, socialise, and enjoyed the BBQ. The event concluded with a sweet surprise, as everyone received rainbow paddlepop ice-creams.
The Pride Swim and Gym Night was a wonderful celebration of diversity, wellness, and happiness, thanks to the efforts of the organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and participants. It was a night to remember for the whole community.
