Vivian knew that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. Her inspiration to become an educator came from her belief in the huge impact that early childhood educators can have on a child’s development. “Being an educator is incredibly rewarding,” Vivian says, “We have the privilege of watching children grow and develop and knowing that we’re contributing to that growth is a feeling like no other.”
Vivian’s journey in spans close to 25 years, during which she has dedicated herself to shaping young minds and hearts. She started by earning her Diploma in Early Childhood Studies and later went on to complete her degree. Over the years, she has worked with countless children, each experience enriching her understanding of the world through the eyes of a child.
One memory that stands out in Vivian’s mind is when she was working overseas with two little children who were sisters. Their bond grew so strong that the girls, in their innocent and pure way, expressed their desire to leave their parents and live with Vivian. “I love the way children see things; it is funny at times”.
Creating a positive and inclusive environment is at the core of Vivian’s approach to education. She believes that educators are positive role models who feel respected and valued, and in turn, show respect to children and parents. Vivian and her team are bilingual allowing them to create a welcoming atmosphere for children from non-English speaking backgrounds. “We make an effort to learn words in the home language of each child to help them settle in,” she explains. “It’s important for children to feel at home, no matter where they come from.”
Vivian’s nurturing heart and beautiful smile creates a welcoming atmosphere that everyone loves. She, along with our entire team of educators, are truly treasured,” says Shannon, our Leisure Manager.
