This Girl Can is back!

This year Council are offering events in Manningham for the entire month of November! This VicHealth campaign aims to inspire and empower women and girls to get active, regardless of age, size, background, gender identity or fitness level.

This Girl Can is back this November!

This Girl Can is about breaking barriers and empowering women of all ages and fitness levels to embrace physical activity. Through inspiring events and real stories, the campaign transforms how women see exercise, making it a source of empowerment and joy.

Last year, This Girl Can inspired Maria to break barriers and challenge herself to be better and get healthy!

Maria, a busy mother juggling family and community responsibilities, struggled to make time for herself. Maria lacked the encouragement to explore activities, especially physical ones to really connect and do something for herself. When she came across This Girl Can, its message sparked her curiosity. After attending the launch event and hearing from speakers like former soccer player Dr. Shona Bass and Richmond Football Club star Courtney Jones, she was inspired to take action.

Maria joined strength training, Pilates, Yoga, and Pickleball classes at Aquarena, rediscovering her love for fitness. Since then, she’s been a regular member. On her recent visits to the GP, she was surprised when most of her tests came back with excellent results. Maria is now a regular visitor at Aquarena and attends numerous classes each week!

This Girl Can encourages women to find activities that suit them, embrace the joy of movement, and prioritize their well-being. It’s more than a campaign—it’s a movement empowering woman to get active in their own way. Join the movement today! Throughout November, groups across Manningham will offer free or low-cost activities, giving you the chance to get moving in a way that feels right for you. CLICK HERE for more information.
