Doncaster Dolphins Excel in Darwin!

Our Dolphins travelled to Darwin to participate in the 2024 Australian Masters Swimming National Championships.

At the start of May, when the mornings at Aquarena were cold enough to cover the outdoor pool with a thick foggy mist, a team of 18 Doncaster Dolphins were swimming at the 2024 Australian Masters Swimming National Championships in Darwin in 30⁰ heat! … but the change in temperature didn’t impact their performance too much.

The team had a very successful time in the pool and the Open Water, coming home with 19 Gold, 12 Silver and 15 Bronze individual medals and 6 gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze relay medals. One State and 19 individual Club records were broken and 2 State and 4 Club relay records were also broken. There were also many Personal Best performances.

Most of the Dolphins also took the opportunity to do some sightseeing around Darwin and the Northern Territory as part of their adventure up north. Social activities included a dinner cruise on Darwin Harbour, watching sunsets and enjoying the Mindil Beach Market along with other shopping opportunities.

The Doncaster Dolphins Masters Swimming Club train at Aquarena on Monday and Thursday evenings (6:30-7:45pm) and Saturday mornings (8:30-10:00am). New swimmers aged from 18 years upwards are welcome to come and meet the team, meet the Coaches, and have 3 free trial sessions with the squad.
