Did you know in addition to your weekly 30-minute swimming lesson, students enrolled in swimming lessons at Aquarena have unlimited access to the pools at Aquarena throughout the week! For students under 5 years, the swim entry for one accompanying parent or guardian is included when going for a swim with the Learn to Swim member.
We encourage our Learn to Swim families to make the most of their free access so students can practice the skills they learn during swimming lessons. Students love to show mum, dad, grandparents, and friends what they have learnt during their swimming lessons – so ask them to show you!
Spring is the best time of the year to get down to the pool as frequently as possible and practice your swimming so everyone in your family can be safe swimmers this Summer.
WHEN CAN MY CHILD STOP SWIMMING LESSONS?
At Aquarena we teach the Swim and Survive curriculum. Swim and Survive was created by the Royal Life Saving Society, and the levels align with the National Swimming and Water Safety Framework. The National benchmark for a 12-year-old requires the child to achieve the skills of a Swim and Survive Level 7. This means, every student should be able to pass the skills of a Level 7 before they stop attending swimming lessons.
More information on the National Swimming and Water Safety Framework can be found here.
FUTURE SWIMMING PATHWAYS
Children and teenagers who have graduated from Level 7 and want to continue their swimming journey, have the opportunity to join our Endurance (1 hour) sessions to build stamina and refine technique, and we also have a fantastic swimming club who call Aquarena home, the Doncaster Templestowe Swimming Club (DTSC). If your child wants to join the squad to begin competing or just to swim for fitness, please enquire to book a FREE trial with DTSC.
