A group of excited students recently took a special trip to learn about the health and leisure industry and visited us here at Aquarena. The visit, hosted by Richmond Institute, a subsidiary of the Richmond Football Club, had a three-fold purpose: to showcase various programs and classes available, to introduce students to potential career opportunities, and to support their academic journey by contributing to their unit on Managing Personal and Professional Performance.
The students had the unique opportunity to explore Active Manningham (Aquarena), one of the three Melbourne metro Aligned Leisure sites, where they were not only exposed to state-of-the-art facilities but also engaged in informative presentations by members of Aquarenas leadership team. These presentations aimed to inspire and educate the students about the journey each leader took to reach their current roles, highlighting the diverse career paths within the health and leisure sector.
During their visit, students gained insights into the roles, tasks, and responsibilities of leadership staff within leisure centre’s. This hands-on experience offered them a behind-the-scenes look at how these facilities are managed and operated on a day-to-day basis.
Richmond Institute, which started in 2017, is part of Richmond Football Club and offers TAFE education. Their main program, the Dual Diploma Program, takes a year to complete and teaches students about sports and leadership. The best part is that it’s very hands-on and helps students get ready for jobs in the sports world.
This excursion was a great chance for these students to learn more about health and leisure jobs. Students saw the different programs available, met some inspiring leaders, and got a taste of what working in the industry is like. Now, when they go back to the classroom, they’ll have more knowledge about managing their personal and professional lives, and they might just be the future leaders in the world of sports and health!
